Stop the UK's Illegal Tyre Waste Exports
Every year, the UK exports 300,000 tonnes of used tyres – many of which end up in toxic, unregulated dumps overseas.
Under the current system, tyres are classified as ‘Green List’ waste, meaning they can be freely shipped to countries like India without proper checks or oversight. But the truth is, many of these tyres are not being properly recycled. Instead, they are burned in unsafe conditions, poisoning communities, workers, and the environment with toxic fumes.
Campaign Overview
A legal action to shut down this dangerous loophole
Our goal is to force the Environment Agency (EA) to reclassify exported tyres as ‘Amber List’ waste, requiring stricter controls and accountability.
The EA already has evidence that illegal tyre dumping is happening, but they’ve done nothing. That’s why we’re stepping in—to force change through the courts and make the government take responsibility.
Ending Toxic Pollution
Preventing the UK from dumping its waste problem onto vulnerable communities abroad.
Exposing Corruption
Linking illegal tyre exports to a proliferation of waste brokers and organized crime
Protecting UK Recycling Jobs
Supporting UK businesses that invest in real recycling instead of losing out to illegal exporters.
What's next?
This campaign is happening right now – and legal battles aren’t cheap.
With your help, we can hold the government accountable and force real change.
